- Is the Chrome extension free?
- Yes. Installing it and running checks costs nothing, and you do not need an account to run your first check. The full audit — exact score, hallucination detection, crawler access checks and prescriptive fixes — is part of a 99Visibility plan, from $49/month.
- Do I need an account to use it?
- No. The extension works anonymously — each install generates a random ID stored in your browser, and that is the only thing tying your checks together. You create an account when you want the full audit.
- What data does the extension collect?
- The anonymous install ID, the brand domain you type, and which AI platform you are on (the URL path only, never the query string). It never reads the content of your AI conversations. Telemetry is opt-out from a toggle in the popup footer.
- Which AI platforms does it work on?
- ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude. The extension detects which of the four you are on and tags the check with it, so you can see which platform you were looking at when you ran it.
- Why does it show a band instead of a score?
- Because anyone can type any domain into it. Returning an exact score to an anonymous caller would expose one customer’s private number to anybody who guessed their domain, so the extension returns a four-step band — Critical, Weak, Fair or Strong. The exact 0-100 score lives behind your account.
- Does it work on Firefox or Edge?
- The build targets Chrome and any Chromium browser, so Edge, Brave and Arc work from the same listing. A Firefox build exists in the repo and ships once the Chrome listing is live.
