Can't Tell Whether Your Score Is Improving
Two audits disagree, the trend chart is empty, or the change badge says there is no comparison. How to compare audits fairly over time.
You've run more than one audit and want to know if your work is paying off. The numbers jump around, the trend chart is empty, or the score card says it has nothing to compare.
Likely causes
- The two audits asked different questions. Keywords audited in the last 10 days start unticked on the New Audit form, so back-to-back audits often cover different keywords. Two audits with different keyword or platform sets don't measure the same thing.
- Only one audit exists. The Trends tab says "Run at least 2 audits to see trends" until there are two.
- The platform weights changed. The score card then says "No comparison: your last audit was scored with different platform weights."
- Part of an audit was unmeasured. Google shows no AI Overview for some searches, and a platform can fail to answer. Those prompts are skipped, not counted as misses.
Fix it
- When you start an audit, click All in the Keywords card and tick the same platforms as last time. The run button shows the counts, so you can match them.
- Open the new audit. The score card shows "+N vs previous" or "No change" against your last audit.
- On the dashboard, open Your visibility → Trends. "Visibility Over Time" plots the overall score; "Score by AI Model" shows each platform on its own line.
- Look per platform before you judge the total. One platform rising while another falls can leave the overall score flat.
- For a steady series, schedule re-audits. Open Brands → Edit → Re-audit schedule and pick Weekly or Monthly.
About scheduled re-audits
Scheduled re-audits are on Starter ($49/mo) and above. Each one asks about all your active keywords and uses one audit from your monthly allowance. A run is skipped when the allowance is used up.
The first run comes one full interval after you turn the schedule on. Each one emails you what moved.
What a change means
A rise after a batch of fixes is the signal you want. A drop usually traces to one platform, or to a new wrong fact. Check the accuracy issues on the audit page under Show advanced.
Ask V to compare two audits and it lists the movement overall and per platform.
How it works: Audits reference describes selection, scheduling and partial runs. The score maths is in Visibility score reference.
