Chrome Extension
The 99Visibility Chrome extension shows a quick AI visibility band for a domain while you use ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Claude. It is built but not yet published in the Chrome Web Store, so there is no install link today. This page describes the current build, version 0.2.1.
What it does
- On first open, the popup asks for a brand domain. No account or sign-in is needed.
- It looks up the latest completed 99Visibility audit for that exact domain. It does not ask any AI platform itself.
- If an audit exists, it shows a band (critical, weak, fair or strong) and the month of that audit, never the numeric score. If none exists, it shows "No data yet" and a link to run a free audit.
- From the third check, the popup offers to track the brand weekly, which links to pricing.
- The header shows which AI platform the active tab is on.
Permissions
storageandactiveTab.- Host access to chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com, claude.ai and 99visibility.com.
- The content script detects which of the four AI sites the tab is on, from its address. It does not read the page or your conversation.
Data
| Data | When it is sent |
|---|---|
| A random install ID, the extension version and your browser's user agent | With every request |
| The domain you check and the detected platform name | On every check |
| Check outcome, upgrade prompt shown, link clicked, opt-in changes | On those actions |
| Install, popup opened, platform detected (name only) | Only with usage sharing turned on |
| Your conversations, page content, page paths | Never |
Usage sharing is off by default. Turn it on with "Share anonymous usage to improve AI visibility data" in the popup footer. Your IP address is used only for rate limiting and is not stored with events. The install ID also travels on links the extension opens on 99visibility.com, so a later sign-up can be connected to the install.
Limits
Free, with no plan check. Lookups are rate-limited per install and per network per day.
