Is Your Content AI-Ready? Check Every Box.
Use this checklist before publishing any page to maximize its chance of being cited by AI platforms. Each item is based on real GEO research into what triggers AI citations.
Content Structure (5 items)
- Clear H1 → H2 → H3 hierarchy — AI uses heading structure to understand your page. Never skip heading levels.
- Concise opening paragraph — First 2-3 sentences should define what the page is about in a quotable format.
- Lists and tables for key data — AI extracts structured content 3x more effectively than prose paragraphs.
- FAQ section at the bottom — FAQ content is the most reliably extracted format across all AI platforms.
- Under 2,000 words — Focused, comprehensive content beats long-form bloat. AI wants depth, not length.
Schema & Technical (5 items)
- FAQ Schema (JSON-LD) — Add FAQPage schema to any page with a Q&A section. Use our Schema Generator.
- Organization Schema on homepage — Helps AI identify your company name, description, and contact info.
- Product Schema on pricing page — Reduces the #1 hallucination category: wrong pricing.
- Meta description under 160 chars — Should contain a quotable brand definition. Use our Meta Tag Generator.
- Page last-modified date visible — AI platforms prefer recent content. Show when content was last updated.
Authority & Trust (5 items)
- Author bio with credentials — E-E-A-T signals directly influence AI trust. Show expertise.
- Statistics with linked sources — AI quotes specific numbers from authoritative references.
- External citations — Link to research, reports, and data. This signals authority to AI crawlers.
- "According to" attribution — Use patterns AI recognizes for citation-worthy content.
- About page with quotable summary — One paragraph AI can extract to describe your company.
Quotability (5 items)
- Definitive brand statement — "[Company] is a [category] that [key benefit]" — the most quotable format.
- Specific claims, not superlatives — "Serves 10,000 users" beats "leading platform."
- Comparison content — "X vs Y" pages with structured tables get cited in competitive queries.
- Category definition — Define your category clearly. AI quotes whoever defines the space.
- No generic marketing copy — Remove "innovative," "cutting-edge," "best-in-class." AI ignores fluff.
