Rankscale describes itself as "a tool for generative engine optimization (GEO)". It tracks brand visibility across 17+ AI engines, all of them on every plan, and bills in monthly credits. Its pages list citation tracking, sentiment, competitor analysis, a rule-based page audit, AI Visits from Cloudflare logs, an API and an MCP server.

99Visibility is built for the marketing manager or founder who needs to know what AI says about their brand and what to fix. It audits ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, checks each answer against the facts you enter, checks whether AI crawlers can reach your site, and ends every audit with a ranked fix list. The Free plan needs no card.

Key Differences

Engines. Rankscale tracks more: 17+ engines, among them ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok and Microsoft Copilot, with no engine held back for a higher plan. Each costs a different number of credits. Its changelog for 12 October 2026 says Perplexity GUI monitoring is "temporarily paused" because the scrapes hit login walls; we found no later entry saying it resumed. 99Visibility asks 6 engines on every paid plan and ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews on Free.

Price. Rankscale's Essentials costs $17 a month billed yearly, $204 a year, for 120 credits; billed monthly, its plans are Pro $99, Pro+ $229, Growth $385 and Enterprise $780. 99Visibility costs $0 on Free, then $49, $99 and $149 a month, with Free 5, Starter 25, Growth 50 and Pro 100 prompts and no credits to count.

Accuracy. Rankscale's pages, read on 4 November 2026, list citations, sentiment and competitor analysis. We did not find a check of AI answers against facts you supply, so ask Rankscale if you need one. 99Visibility reads every answer against your price, founding year, location and features, and turns each wrong claim into a ranked fix.

Crawler access. Rankscale's page audit includes an AI Crawlability score with "penalties for each blocked AI bot (e.g. GPTBot, PerplexityBot)"; the page does not say whether that reads robots.txt or requests the page as each bot. Its AI Visits shows real bot visits once Cloudflare is connected, from Pro. 99Visibility reads robots.txt for 18 AI crawlers and requests your page as each of the 16 that fetch pages, on every plan, with no connection to set up.

Page scoring. Rankscale's page audit scores pages on modules it names Traditional SEO, RAG, AI Readiness, Link Audit and Schema, among others. Read any markup score against the evidence: Google's guide to its AI features (updated 10 July 2026) says there is "no special schema.org markup you need to add". Our fixes remove what blocks you: a crawler block, a snippet control, a wrong fact.

Where Rankscale is stronger. 17+ engines to our 6, 240+ regions and languages, a cheaper paid entry plan when billed yearly, an API, white-label links for agencies and crawler traffic from your logs. Our audits ask from one country, your brand's primary market, and we have no public API.

What 99Visibility checks

Every answer is read against the facts in your brand profile: price, founding year, location and features. Each flag carries a severity of critical, moderate or minor. A wrong price is moderate, and the fix it triggers, "AI quotes the wrong price for [brand]", is ranked critical because buyers act on a price.

On Free you see how many answers contradict your facts; what each flag says starts on Starter. When an audit finds a critical flag, we email you as the audit finishes. That is one alert per audit, not continuous monitoring, and on Starter and up you can schedule weekly or monthly re-audits.

Every plan, Free included, checks whether 18 AI crawlers can reach your site: robots.txt for each one, and a request as each of the 16 that fetch pages to see what your firewall answers. Each finding quotes what the vendor says a block costs, so a ChatGPT search block ranks critical and a training-only block ranks low.

What happens after the audit

Every audit ends in a ranked fix list. Each fix has a title, the action, the reason, a priority from critical to low and an effort of about 30 minutes, 1-2 hours or 3+ hours. When robots.txt blocks OpenAI's search crawler, the fix reads "ChatGPT search cannot see your site — OAI-SearchBot is blocked in robots.txt": critical, about 30 minutes, with the line in your file that causes it.

The fixes are subtractive and sourced: remove a crawler block, a stray snippet control or a wrong fact. The list never tells you to add schema or rewrite pages to get cited, because the evidence does not support it. On Starter ($49/mo) and up, each fix also has a step-by-step guide.

Pricing Comparison

Rankscale's credits and our prompts are not the same unit, so the rows pair plans by price, not by volume. A Rankscale query typically costs 0.25 credits per engine per prompt, and Claude costs more.
