Why people look for a Rankscale alternative
We have no survey of why customers leave Rankscale, so this section sticks to the trade-offs its own pages show, read on 4 November 2026:
- No free plan. Rankscale offers its Pro plan free for 7 days "with a limited credit allowance". Its cheapest plan, Essentials, is $17 a month billed yearly ($204 a year).
- Credits, not prompts. A query "typically" costs 0.25 credits per engine per prompt, and some engines cost more: its calculator prices Claude at 2. What a plan buys depends on which engines you track.
- Perplexity. Its changelog for 12 October 2026 says Perplexity GUI monitoring is "temporarily paused" because the scrapes hit login walls. We found no later entry saying it resumed.
- Plan gates. The REST API starts on Pro+, white-label dashboard links on Growth, and AI Visits, which reads bot visits from Cloudflare, from Pro.
- Accuracy. We did not find a check of AI answers against facts you supply on its pages.

How to choose a Rankscale alternative
- You want more engines. Few tools match 17+ on one plan. AthenaHQ lists 11 models on Starter; most others cover three to six. If engine count is the reason you chose Rankscale, it may still be the right tool.
- You want to start free. 99Visibility and AthenaHQ have free plans; Keyword.com has a 14-day trial with no card.
- AI gets your facts wrong. Look for a check of answers against facts you supply: 99Visibility on every plan, Peec on a set number of prompts per plan, and Profound and AthenaHQ on Enterprise.
- You want a predictable bill. Prompt-based plans (99Visibility, Peec AI, SE Visible, Similarweb) are easier to budget than credits whose cost depends on the engine.
- You need AI referral traffic. Similarweb's AI Traffic measures it for your site and your competitors'; Peec lists AI referrals on every plan; Rankscale's AI Visits needs Cloudflare.
Vendors change their plans often; confirm one on the vendor's own page before you buy. For the whole market, read the best AI visibility tools compared.
Where 99Visibility fits
- A Free plan with no card, then $49, $99 and $149 a month with a 7-day trial on paid plans.
- Every answer in an audit is read against the facts you enter (price, founding year, location, features), and each wrong claim gets a severity of critical, moderate or minor.
- robots.txt read for 18 AI crawlers and your page requested as each of the 16 that fetch pages, on every plan, so a firewall that refuses a bot your robots.txt allows shows up.
- Every audit ends in a ranked fix list: the change, the reason, a priority and an effort estimate.
Where it does not
- 6 engines: no Microsoft Copilot, Grok or DeepSeek. Rankscale lists 17+; we ask 6.
- One country per audit, your brand's primary market; Gemini takes no location
- No public API: audit exports in CSV and JSON, and an MCP endpoint with keys issued on request
- No white-label reports
- No bot visits read from your server or CDN logs yet
